- If you're here looking for a way to make up missing work for writing class, it's likely that you're missing some of your "Weekly Writing Work." The "Weekly Writing Work" assignment is the form with daily learning targets, your best sentence of the week, weekly spelling words, and a few reflection questions. Attached to this should be all of the in-class writing we did during the week. The form is quite hard to make up if lost or not done, and not really worth the time it takes to hunt down all the random pieces of information that go on it. But what is worth the time if you missed class or didn't do them is the writing prompts. We typically do a writing prompt each day, so to make up for a whole week of missing writing work, you should do five writing prompts. Clicking on this link will give you a random writing prompt. Keep clicking on it until you find one you like. Do the prompt by writing for five minutes straight with half of a page as your goal. Do all the prompts you need to do to make up for the days you are missing. Staple them together. Write a note on them that clearly states that they are writing prompts to make up for missing writing work. Hand these into the basket. That's it.
- If you're here looking for a way to make up missing work for reading class, it's likely that you are either missing a reading log or didn't do a reading log as completely as you should have. You have two options for recovering these points. You could either track down the reading log in question (the extras basket has extra reading logs and your folder in the clear tub would have your incomplete reading log) and get it done. Or you could do 20 minutes of reading from a book of your choice and fill in a 4/3/2/1 sheet about what you read. Doing 20 minutes of reading and a 4/3/2/1 would get you 5 points, or the same amount of points that a day of the reading log is worth. You can either print off a 4/3/2/1 that is found behind this link, or re-create a 4/3/2/1 on your own paper, or you could pick up as many 4/3/2/1 sheets as you need from the clear tub with the green lid on the front desk.
